Chief Security Consultant
Al Gilpin’s law enforcement expertise is invaluable in protecting our seniors. As a Retired Sheriff and past California Corrections Officer, his knowledge provides a priceless service to About Senior Solutions. Our Geriatric Care Managers look at safety from a perspective of fall prevention; Al adds an extra component of safety by securing property and the use of observational skills against potential abusers and scam artists.
Adult Protective Services is only able to do so much. Al is able to guide and work alongside with law enforcement to assert their authority to protect a senior. He interfaces with the police community and community at large. He is skillful in dealing with 5150’s, Restraining Orders, and the necessary defenses that are available to protect this frail and vulnerable population.
His desire to work with seniors took place after writing recurring reports of scams perpetrated against seniors. After he retired from the Riverside Sheriff’s Department, Al worked with designing home security systems and identifying areas of vulnerability to predators.
“Seniors are more trusting than other age groups,” says Gilpin, “I like teaching them to say no. A common issue is the “phone friend” who really just wants their money. I can empower them by giving them permission to be rude and hang up.”
WHAT OUR CLIENTS ARE SAYING
“My daughter and I were beginning to feel like we were totally on our own. Thank you so much. “
Mary L., San Dimas
“I was all alone caring for my husband at home. I didn’t know if I was doing the right thing or not. It was a difficult time to be faced with, you listened to what we wanted and provided us with options. You made it a simpler decision. I did not feel stuck and felt the stress of the situation melt away. “
M. Becker, Pasadena
“When I first came in to contact with Casa Colina and they recommended that I make contact with you folks, I realized that finally I had been introduced to the “Source” of all of the services and information I would need to adequately care for my father.”
Geoffrey G. H., Los Angeles
